Especially in the 12th 5-Year-Scheme, Hohai has been approved to establish 3 “111 Bases” consecutively, which demonstrates the remarkable accomplishments in foreign talent introduction.

The “Discipline Innovation and Overseas Talent Introduction Base of Renewable Energy Generation and Smart Grid” is the third base of its kind approved to be built at the university during the 12th Five-Year-Plan period. Supported by the State Engineering Research Center of Efficient Utilization of Water Resources and Engineering Safety, as well as the State Engineering Research Center of Renewable Energy Generation founded by Ministry of Education, and the Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Power Transmission & Distribution Equipment Technology, the base brings to China Sir Michael Sterling, and other scholars and experts from the UK, USA, Singapore, Denmark, Poland, Japan, and Korea to focus on research studies in renewable energy generation and smart grid, with the integration of both domestic and international academic and research talents.

The start-up base will extend the research on modeling and simulation of renewable energy generation and smart grid, optimal design of renewable energy generation system, intelligent control of renewable energy generation system, and operations and power scheduling of smart grids containing renewable energy, based on key technical issues of renewable energy generation and smart grids.
