Daniel Almeida, President of the Brazil–China Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies, Visits Hohai University with Delegation

On December 2, Daniel Almeida, President of the Brazil-China Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies, led a delegation to Hohai University. They were accompanied by Dai Yongying, a Level I Bureau Rank Official at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, and Chen Zhihong, Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress. Wu Feng, Vice President of Hohai University, met with the delegation, and the two sides held in‑depth discussions on China–Brazil cooperation in education, collaborative innovation in science and technology, and other topics.

Dai Yongying said China and Brazil share deep ties forged by long histories, multicultural societies, common development philosophies, and common responsibilities in international affairs. Dai added that parliamentary diplomacy provides important support for the steady development of bilateral relations, and that the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China stands ready to help facilitate practical cooperation between China and Brazil at the local level and in areas such as education and science and technology—especially to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state on sustainable development.

Wu Feng emphasized that Hohai University, as one of the inaugural member institutions of the BRICS Network University (BRICS-NU), has long maintained close cooperation with Brazilian colleges and universities. Wu said the university is willing to deepen further collaborative innovation and practical cooperation with Brazilian partners in key areas such as soil remediation, ecological and environmental governance, and addressing climate change, aiming to produce more high‑quality cooperative outcomes to support China–Brazil sustainable development and inject strong momentum into the China–Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership.

Daniel Almeida praised the fruitful results of cooperation between Hohai University and Brazilian colleges and universities in areas such as soil remediation and environmental governance. He said Brazil's needs for responding to floods and droughts align closely with China’s cutting‑edge technologies in these fields, and that the Brazil–China Parliamentary Group in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies is willing to act as a bridge to coordinate resources and help turn cooperative visions into implementable projects.

The visit further solidified Hohai University's cooperation with relevant Brazilian institutions. The university said it will continue to deepen ties with Brazilian colleges and universities in scientific research, talent cultivation, and joint platform development, helping to advance the China–Brazil friendly cooperation.

Relevant colleges and departments of the university participated in the discussion.
