Hohai University launched “111 Base of Renewable Energy Generation and Smart Grid”

   Hohai University held the kick-off ceremony for the “Discipline Innovation and Overseas Talent Introduction Base of Renewable Energy Generation and Smart Grid”( the 111 Project) on April 12th. Dawei Wei,Director of Department of Cultural and Educational Experts of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, Li Yao, Director of Jiangsu Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, Hui Xu, President of Hohai University, Ping Ju,  Hongwu Tang and Xingying Chen, Vice President of Hohai University, Sir Michael Sterling, as well as other scholars and experts from the UK, USA, Singapore, Denmark, Poland, Japan, and Korea attended the ceremony.

  

   The “111 Project”, jointly kicked off by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and Ministry of Education in 2006, is an important foreign talent introduction program aiming at improving the strength and influence of advantageous disciplines at Chinese universities and promote their integration with global academic frontiers. Hohai University is one of the top universities in China with a long history and profound cultural legacy. The university has the strong support of SAFEA in talent introduction. In recent years, supported by SAFEA and Ministry of Education, Hohai University has been attaching great importance to international collaboration and exchange by introducing high-level foreign expert teams. Four “111 Bases” have been successfully established in the key and advantageous disciplines at Hohai. Especially in the 12th 5-Year-Scheme, Hohai has been approved to establish 3 “111 Bases” consecutively, which demonstrates the remarkable accomplishments in foreign talent introduction.
   
     The “Discipline Innovation and Overseas Talent Introduction Base of Renewable Energy Generation and Smart Grid” is the third base of its kind approved to be built at the university during the 12th Five-Year-Plan period. Supported by the State Engineering Research Center of Efficient Utilization of Water Resources and Engineering Safety, as well as the State Engineering Research Center of Renewable Energy Generation founded by Ministry of Education, and the Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Power Transmission & Distribution Equipment Technology, the base brings to China Sir Michael Sterling, and other scholars and experts from the UK, USA, Singapore, Denmark, Poland, Japan, and Korea to focus on research studies in renewable energy generation and smart grid, with the integration of both domestic and international academic and research talents.

 

   The start-up base will extend the research on modeling and simulation of renewable energy generation and smart grid, optimal design of renewable energy generation system, intelligent control of renewable energy generation system, and operations and power scheduling of smart grids containing renewable energy, based on key technical issues of renewable energy generation and smart grids.
