A delegation led by Professor Steve Wells, President of Desert Research Institute(DRI), USA, visited Hohai on August 13, 2014. The delegation includes Dr. Kumud Acharya, Research Professor of Division of Hydrologic Sciences,DRI, and Mr. Kenneth Ladd, Nevada Centre of Excellence.
President Hui Xu and Vice President Hongwu Tang met with the delegation. At the beginning of the meeting, both parties outlined the latest development,reviewed and outlooked the cooperation in different fields. President Xu and President Wells signed Memorandum of Understanding on Establishment of International Joint Laboratory of Global Change and Water Cycle.
The International Joint Laboratory,launched by National Education Ministry, focuses on fundamental and applied engineering research associated with this economic development through collaboration between universities and research institutions at home and abroad. It works together with world-famous universities in order to carry out fruitful cooperation with international teams and strives to build an international research platform and set up an international training base on global change and water cycle.
DRI is famous for environmental research in the Nevada System of Higher Education,which conducts cutting-edge applied research in land, air, and water quality worldwide. It generates $50 million in total annual revenue.
Staff from National Key Laboratory, International Office and Deaparment of Science and Technology attended the Signing Ceromony.
