Honourable professor of Hohai University, Kuniyoshi Takeuchi, visited Hohai on November 28th, 2014.
Prof. Kuniyoshi Takeuchi visited State Key Laboratory of Hydrology-Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering, and gave a lecture titled “Climate Change Adaptation in Asia for Extreme Hydro-meteorological Hazards”. He emphasized the extreme severeness of climate change impacts in Asia and the need for science and technology and societal transformation. Academic staff and students form Hohai attended the meeting, and made in-depth and detailed communication with Kuniyoshi Takeuchi after the meeting.
Prof. Kuniyoshi Takeuchi is Advisor to International Centre for Water Hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM) under the auspices of UNESCO, Tsukuba, Japan. He is now serving the chair of IUGG GeoRisk Commission and a vice-chair of Science Committee of ICSU-ISSC-UNISDR Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR). He is a recipient of JSHWR Distinguished Contribution Award (2000), JSCE International Contribution Award (2009) and IAHS-UNESCO-WMO International Hydrology Prize (2012). He is a world-renown hydrologist in the area of flood warning and forecasting and disaster risk management.
