On November 2nd, Mr. Andras Szollosi-Nagy, Chairman of the UNESCO International Hydrological Programme (UNESCO-IHP) Intergovernmental Committee, visited Hohai University and President Hui Xu received the guests.
President Hui Xu welcomed the arrival of Chairman Nagy and introduced the recent achievements of the “Double First-Class” construction, the State Key Laboratory and the International Joint Laboratory for Global Change and Water Cycle. President Hui Xu pointed out that the discipline construction of Hohai University faces a transition from traditional water conservancy to modern water conservancy and water engineering to water science, which puts higher demands on the university’s personnel training, scientific research, disciplines-construction, and international cooperation. He also hoped that Hohai University can strengthen cooperation with international organizations such as UNESCO-IHP, and lead the construction of our “double-class” disciplines to achieve world-class level through international cooperation, and to make the sound of Hohai University in the international water conservancy field.
Chairman Nagy expressed his strong support for President Hui Xu 's point of view. He detailed the recent developments on global water conservation by UNESCO's International Hydrological Programme and recommended the two sides’ cooperation in sustainable development of the Earth from the perspective of global water resources. In terms of cooperation in talent cultivation and scientific research, he hoped that UNESCO-IHP and Hohai University will cooperate in more fields to provide strong scientific support for the sustainable development of global water resources.
Relevant personnel from International Office and the State Key Laboratory of Hohai University attended the meeting.
