On April 10, José Correia, president of Cape Verde-China Friendship Society, and Jiang Chen, deputy director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, visited Hohai University. Vice President Xu Weiya met with the guests.
During the meeting, Vice President Xu Weiya briefed the guests on the recent international cooperation and education of HHU, saying that the university has always been open to foreign exchanges, Cape Verde and HHU are welcome to carry out substantive cooperation in student exchange, talent cultivation, ocean observation, Portuguese language training and so on. President José Correia introduced the basic situation of Cape Verde and the long history of friendly relations between Cape Verde and China, and warmly responded to President Xu. He expressed appreciation for the long-term efforts of HHU in supporting students from Cape Verde to study in China. It is expected that HHU and Cape Verdean universities can become strategic partners and carry out educational cooperation and exchange. At the same time, he hoped that our university could support the construction and layout of the Cape Verde's marine special economic zone with the advantage of the subject's advantages. Jiang Chen, deputy director of the Jiangsu Province Foreign Affairs Office, expressed support and encouraged our school to strengthen cooperation with Cape Verde.
Jiangsu Province attaches great importance to cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries, and in October 2016, established the Jiangsu-Macao Portuguese-speaking countries University Cooperation Alliance. Our university also became a member of the alliance for education cooperation with and Cape Verde.
