1st IAHR-Hohai International Forum on Higher Education in Hydro Environment Engineering was held in Hohai University on May 15.
Professor Hongwu TANG, Chairman of the Hohai University Council, opened the Forum. He introduced the new IAHR-Hohai Committee on Higher Learning which will be based in HHU, as the latest phase in the internationalization of HHU and its strengthening links with the international community. Prof. Peter Goodwin, President of IAHR in his address to the Forum stressed the need for a new form of education of students in the hydro-environment domain responding to a trend for convergence in science, technology and the humanities. This new approach entails integrating knowledge, methods, and expertise from different disciplines and forming novel frameworks to catalyze scientific discovery and innovation as well as education and training.

There were more than 70 professors and from Delft University of Technology, University of Connecticut, National University of Singapore, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and entrepreneur from China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute, PowerChina HuaDong Engineering Corporation Limited, PowerChina KunMing Engineering Corporation Limited, China International Water & Electric Corp. and Hohai University attended the Forum.
