Recently, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China announced the approval result of Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools in 2020. The no separate legal entity named Hohai-Lille College of Hohai University is officially approved, which is jointly established by Chinese and French institutions. This entity is the first approved Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run school for our university.
The foreign partner university of Hohai-Lille College of Hohai University is Lille University in France. Lille University was established in 1559 and has a 460-year education history. It is the alma mater for former French President Charles de Gaulle and the largest public university in France. Lille University has established 33 national laboratories by cooperating with many national research institutions, such as the National Center for Scientific Research (Centre national de la recherche scientifique, CNRS), the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences (Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique, INRA), the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Institut National de la Sante et de la Recherche Medicale, INSERM). It is a university with high-standard research level.
Hohai-Lille College of Hohai University will carry out undergraduate and master education, offering two undergraduate majors in civil engineering and mechanical engineering and two majors for master's degree in civil engineering (academic master) / architectural and civil engineering (professional master). 160 undergraduates and 160 master students will be enrolled each year. The total student's number for this college is 960 and is planned to enroll in 2020. College students will be simultaneously registered at Hohai University and Lille University, acquiring dual enrollment and receiving a six-year consistent education from the bachelor to the master phase. Those who meet the graduation requirements can get both the bachelor's and master's degree certificates in Hohai University and Lille University, as well as the certificate for the Engineer School System of France. Conforming to the National Construction Project of New Engineering and the Manufacturing Power Province planned by Jiangsu Province, the college can provide high-end engineering education and cultivate high-level, high-quality, international talents with international perspective and innovative consciousness in the fields of civil engineering and mechanical engineering that can adapt to scientific and technological development and economic and social needs.
