From June 26 to 28, the Sustainable Solutions Competition Final, one of the Student Conferences organized by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), was held online. The Hohai Team consists of Qin Yixiao, Chen Kaijia, Sun Pangbo, Wang Xinyi, Yang Fan and Chen Yu, the 2018 undergraduate civil engineering students mentored by teachers Wang Haitao, Qiu Ye and Lu Man, won the first runner-up.
The team defended its championship of the ASCE Sustainable Solutions Competition (Mid-Pacific Division) and advanced to the finals in April of this year. The team competed with other division winners from the Great Lakes, Deep South, Southeast, Texas-Mexico and India Conferences, and was finally placed second in the final.
In recent years, undergraduate students in Civil and Transportation Engineering at Hohai University have been fully engaged in international exchanges and competitions. In 2021 alone, our undergraduate students won one championship, one first runner-up and three third-place in top international disciplinary competitions in Civil Engineering held in the US and Canada, which greatly expanded their international horizons and enhanced their innovative and practical abilities.
