From March to May 2021, the International Hydropower Association (IHA) held campaign for the committees under Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Council. Professor Shi Guoqing, Director of the National Research Center for Resettlement (NRCR), and Director of the Center for Asian Studies at Hohai University, was re-elected as the Rotating Chair of the Emerging and Developing Countries Committee of the Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Council and a member of the Management Committee.
IHA's Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Council is the governing body responsible for the research, application, promotion, assessment quality monitoring, training and other capacity building of the Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol and Hydropower Sustainability Guidelines. It consists of more than 100 members from international organizations, government departments, financial institutions, hydropower development and consulting companies, hydropower construction and equipment supply companies, higher education and research institutions, environmental and social non-governmental organizations, with rotating chairs of seven committees and one observer forming the management committee. Professor Shi Guoqing of Hohai University is one of the representatives from the Asian region.
