On July 23, Dr. Yinka R. Adebayo, Deputy Director of the Member Services and Development Department of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Director of Education and Training Office, and Yong Wang, Deputy Director of WMO Regional Training Centre Nanjing, China with their delegation visited Hohai University. Vice President of Hohai University (HHU) Jinhai Zheng received the distinguished guests.
Zheng reviewed the cooperation among WMO, China Scholarship Council and Hohai University in cultivating talents of hydrology and water resources for developing countries. He said that Hohai University will strengthen further cooperation with WMO and contribution to the progress of developing countries in hydrological forecasting, flood control and disaster mitigation.
Yinka R. Adebayo spoke highly of HHU’s strong support for the education and training work of WMO and contribution to hydrological talent cultivation for developing countries. The two sides also had a symposium with student representatives of the WMO project.
Since 2008, HHU has admitted 32 international students from 17 countries sent by WMO, including 18 undergraduates and 14 postgraduates.
Heads of relevant departments attended the symposium as well.
