Governor William Powi of Papua New Guinea's Southern Highlands Province Leads Delegation to Visit Hohai University

On February 13, William Powi, Governor of Papua New Guinea's Southern Highlands Province, and his delegation visited Hohai University (HHU). President Zheng Jinhai received the delegation.

 

President Zheng introduced HHU's development history, academic specialties, and international cooperation initiatives. He emphasized that HHU actively responds to the Belt and Road Initiative and vigorously conducts cooperation with countries covered by it in education and technology. Therefore, HHU attaches great importance to collaboration with Papua New Guinea, and began to jointly train PNG students with enterprises a decade ago. He expressed hope for further practical cooperation with the province in talent cultivation, scientific research, and technology transfer to make positive contributions to promoting friendly relations and mutual development between the two countries.

 

Governor Powi acknowledged HHU as an internationally renowned institution of higher education in hydraulic engineering with excellent faculty and rich research experience, making it an ideal partner. He expressed his desire to strengthen communication and exchanges, and to develop scientific research and talent cultivation cooperation in hydraulic engineering construction, water resource management, and renewable energy development for mutual benefit.

 

During the visit, the delegation engaged in discussions with experts from China Construction Port Engineering Group Co., Ltd., SINOHYDRO Corporation Limited, and China Jiangsu International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group, Ltd.. Heads of relevant functional departments of HHU participated in the discussions.
