Hohai University Hosts the HHU-NUS Bilateral Workshop on Coastal Resilience and Sustainable futurE

On February 18, the HHU-NUS Bilateral Workshop on Coastal Resilience and Sustainable futurE (CoRISE) was held at Niushoushan Science and Technology Park. Zheng Jinhai, President of Hohai University (HHU), and Adrian Law, Executive Director of the Coastal Protection and Flood Resilience Institute Singapore (CFI Singapore) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), attended and addressed the workshop.

 

President Zheng introduced HHU's disciplinary development, talent cultivation, scientific innovation, and international exchange initiatives, while reviewing the history of collaboration and exchanges with the NUS. He expressed hope that this workshop would promote new development opportunities for both universities in the fields of coastal resilience enhancement and sustainable development.

 

Director Law outlined the scientific research activities of the NUS and the CFI Singapore and expressed his desire to deepen bilateral cooperation in scientific research and technology transfer in coastal protection.

 

During the academic presentation session, participating experts and scholars focused on the safety and sustainable development challenges facing coastal areas in the context of climate change and engaged in in-depth discussions on scientific theories, innovative technologies, engineering practices, and management strategies related to resilient coastal development. In the roundtable forum session, both parties conducted enthusiastic exchanges in areas such as joint applications for international projects, personnel exchanges, and the production and dissemination of research outcomes.

 

During the workshop, an MOU was signed between HHU's Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education for Coastal Disaster and Protection and the CFI Singapore.
