From August 9 to 14, President Zheng Jinhai led a delegation on a visit to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan for academic exchange and cooperation.
At Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University, Rector Kanat Tireuov met with the delegation. The two sides discussed and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and held in-depth discussions on the joint establishment of the International Joint Laboratory on Silk Road Economic Belt Efficient Utilization of Water Resources and River-Lake. President Zheng expressed his welcome for students to further study and pursue degrees at Hohai University through applying for the CSC Chinese Government Scholarship Program or the Joint Bachelor's Degree Program between the two universities.
At Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, Rector Bakhadir Mirzaev met with the delegation. The two sides expressed their desire to strengthen student and academic exchanges based on existing collaborations. They reached cooperation intentions in areas such as the Joint Bachelor's Degree Program and the CSC Chinese Government Scholarship Program. The delegation also visited relevant laboratories at the Institute and reached preliminary intentions on scientific research collaboration.
At Tashkent State Agrarian University, Rector Oblomuradov Narzullo Naimovich met with the delegation. The two sides discussed cooperation matters related to the China-Uzbekistan International Joint Research Center for Efficient Soil and Water Resources Utilization, Saline-Alkali Soil Remediation, and River and Lake Health. They reached a consensus on enhancing exchanges and cooperation in their respective advantageous disciplines, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support academic exchanges, research collaboration, and student exchanges between scholars and research teams of the two universities.
At National University of Uzbekistan, Rector Madjidov Inom Urishevich met with the delegation. The two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on higher education cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and reached a consensus on talent cultivation, scientific research collaboration, and faculty and student exchanges. They formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Inter-university Cooperation. President Zheng stated that through close collaboration and joint efforts, he believes new momentum can be injected into China-Uzbekistan educational cooperation.
The delegation also visited the CEEC Central Asia Clean Energy Research Institute and CCCC First Harbor Engineering Company Ltd., and the Tashkent Office of China Road and Bridge Corporation. President Zheng expressed Hohai University’s intention to leverage its advantageous disciplines to develop customized international student training programs for enterprises and jointly establish overseas training bases for international students, to cultivate elites in water resources and electric power industries for the local region.
During the visit, the delegation attended an alumni forum in Astana, Kazakhstan, and presided over the establishment ceremony of the Central Asia Alumni Association.
Heads of relevant departments and schools accompanied the delegation on the visit.
