HHU Delegation Visits Austria and Hungary

Recently, a delegation led by Yang Guishan, Party Secretary of Hohai University (HHU), visited Austria and Hungary for talent introduction and academic exchanges. This visit further deepened cooperation with European research institutes and universities and fostered international exchanges and collaborations in team development and scientific research innovation.

 

During the visit to the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Austria, both sides focused on the theme of water, food, and energy, holding in-depth discussions on the progress and plans of the existing international (regional) cooperative research and exchange projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Consensus was reached on high-level expert visits, short-term student exchanges, and summer school partnerships. Mr. Yang noted that the two sides have established a solid foundation for cooperation in talent cultivation and academic exchanges. He expressed hope for further deepening collaboration in key disciplines to enhance mutual benefits.



During the visit to the HUN-REN Balaton Limnological Research Institute (BLRI) in Hungary, the two sides engaged in profound discussions on topics such as joint talent cultivation, faculty and student exchanges, and scientific research collaboration. Significant progress was made in advancing the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the parties. The delegation also toured the institute's water and environmental chemistry analysis laboratory and the temperature control experimental platform, among other facilities, and reached a preliminary agreement on scientific research collaboration.

 

Additionally, the visit featured a global talent recruitment seminar in Austria, attracting young talent for exchanges and discussions. Participants included international students and postdoctoral researchers from multiple institutions across Europe and North America, such as IIASA, the Institute of Science and Technology Austria, University of Vienna, TU Wien, Wageningen University & Research, and the University of California.
