A Delegation Led by AGU's President Brandon Jones Visits Hohai University

On the morning of October 15, a delegation led by AGU's President Brandon Jones and Executive Director and CEO Janice Lachance visited Hohai University. Vice President Wu Feng presided over the symposium and delivered a speech.


He extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation, noting that Hohai University maintains close collaborative ties with AGU and has achieved fruitful cooperation outcomes. He expressed hope for a strengthened partnership to jointly build a global think tank and collaborative network in water sciences and earth sciences.

 

Brandon Jones introduced AGU's mission of promoting discovery in Earth and space science for the benefit of humanity and its governance structure, emphasizing AGU's extensive global academic influence in Earth and space science. He expressed anticipation for deepening exchanges and expanding cooperation with Hohai University.

 

Janice Lachance outlined AGU's global development strategy, highlighting AGU's commitment to practical cooperation with Chinese universities including Hohai University, and pledging support in talent development, academic publishing, and international outreach.

 

During the symposium, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions regarding high-level talent recruitment, joint hosting of prestigious international conferences, student internship and exchange programs with international organizations, and support for faculty serving as editorial board members of AGU journals.

 

The symposium concluded with both sides reaching a consensus to advance the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and to use specialized academic activities as a catalyst for further expanding practical cooperation with AGU and establishing a long-term, stable collaborative framework.

 

Professor Zhang Ke, Executive Deputy Director of the National Key Laboratory of Water Disaster Prevention, along with Professors Yu Zhongbo and Duan Qingyun, other faculty representatives, and relevant administrative department heads participated in the symposium and exchange.
