Mr. Yan Kai (1912-2006), born in Minhou, Zhejiang Province, is a bi-academician in the Chinese Academy of Sciencesand the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
He has been a leading scientist and Director of Chinese Association of Water Resources and Chinese Association of Ocean Engineering, and has been the Vice President of the Inter-Government Council for International Hydrological Project under UNESCO for a long time. The research results of the national coastal areas and ocean bottomland directedby Mr.Yan Kai won the first prize of National Science and Technology Advancement. Chinese Coastal Engineering, edited by Mr. Yan Kai, won the special prize of Excellent Academic Works among university publishers all around China.
Qian Zhengying (1923- ), born in Jiangxing, Zhejiang Province is an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
From 1952 to 1955,she took the pluralistic position of dean of East China Technical University of Water Resources. Since 1988, she has been the Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Wang Huzhen (1897-1989), born in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, graduated from Hohai Professional School of Engineering. He was a counselor of the Ministry of Water Resources, one of the committeemen of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
He is acclaimed as Father of Chinese Multi-arch Embankment in the field of Water Resources.
Huang Wenxi (1909-2001), born in Shanghai, graduated from the Department of civil engineering in Central University in 1929.
Since 1937, he has been successively professors in Central University, Nanjing University, East China Technical University of Water Resources, and the Department of water resources in Tsinghua University. Meanwhile, he was appointed as a researcher in the Central Laboratory of Water Resources, a section chief in Nanjing Laboratory of Water Resources, a subdecanal in China Insitute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, an honorary member and honorary director of China Civil Engineering Society, and a director of the editorial council of Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, and Journal of Geotechnical Engineering.
Wen Fubo (1925- ), born in Yaojiang, Hu'nan Province, is an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He graduated from the former Department of Water Resource Engineering of Central University, which merged into East China Technical University of Water Resources. Then, he has been working in the Water Resource Council of the Long River under the Ministry of Water Resources.
During this period, he took part in Flood Discharge Project in Jingjiang River, Du Jiatai Flood Discharge Project in Hanjiang River, Dan River Hydro-hinge Project in Hanjiang River, as well as the design and construction of the Ge Zhou Dam Hydro-hinge Project in the Long River. Gezhouba Water Control Project won the golden prize of Excellent Designs among National Hydro-projects; and “The Two Rivers Project”, the silver prize.
Xu Zhilun (1911-1999), born in Jiangdu, Jiangsu Province, is an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, professor, and doctoral tutor.
After his return, he once taught in Zhejiang University, Central University, and Shanghai Communication University as a professor. In 1952, he participated in the founding of East China Technical University of Water Resources. His Elastic Mechanicsever won the first prize of National Science and Technology Books, and the special prize of Excellent Teaching Materials of Higher Education University from National Community of Education.
Wang Wenshao (1919-2007), born in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. From 1938 to 1943, he studied in Department of Water Conservancy Engineering in Center University.
From 1943 to 1945, he was the assistant Engineer at Zhangye workstation of Gansu water conservancy forest and herd corporation. From 1945 to 1946, he was the assistant engineer at Ningxia irrigation engineering team of Yellow River water conservancy committee. From 1946 to 1947, he was the assistant at Department of Water Conservancy of Center University.
In 1947, he went to the United States to further his study, and obtained the master degree in mechanics and hydraulics from Yahveh University. He obtained the Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering from Illinois Technology.
University from 1952 to 1954, he was the assistant researcher and research engineer of Massachusettes Institute of Technology. He came back in 1954.
He has been successively senior engineer of Water Conservancy Science Research Academy of Ministry of Water Conservancy, China Water Conservancy and Hydropower Research Academy. In 1980, he was nominated as the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences. he has been successively appointed as the commissioner of Technology Committee of Ministry of Water Conservancy, counselor of Science Committee of Ministry of Water Conservancy, counselor of Science Technology Committee. Presently he is also the academician of International Soil Mechanics and Groundwork Engineering Association. Honor syndic of China Water Conservancy Academy, etc.
